In a class test +4 marks are given for every correct answer and -2 marks are given for every incorrect answer and no marks are given for question not attempted. Ahmad scored 30 marks. if he has got 14 correct answers. How many questions has he attempted wrongly?

Total marks scored by Ahmad = 30

Number of correct answers = 14

Calculating the number of attempted questions:

Let the total number of questions be x

Therefore, the total marks that Ahmad could have scored = 4x

The number of incorrect answers = (x - 14)

Therefore, the total marks lost due to incorrect answers = -2(x - 14)

Hence, the total marks scored by Ahmad = 4x - 2(x - 14) = 30

Simplifying the equation, we get: 6x = 58

Therefore, the total number of attempted questions by Ahmad = x = 58/6 = 9.67 (approx)

Calculating the number of incorrectly attempted questions:

Since Ahmad attempted 9.67 questions, he must have attempted 9 questions

The number of incorrectly attempted questions = (9 - 14) = -5

However, the number of incorrectly attempted questions cannot be negative, therefore, Ahmad has not attempted any question wrongly.

Conclusion:
Ahmad has attempted 9 questions out of which he has answered 14 correctly and has not attempted any question wrongly.
