Given:

Upstream = 9 km/h
Formula Used:
Upstream = x − y
Downstream = x + y
Calculations:
Let the speed of the boat be x km/h
The speed of still water = y km/h
According to the formula,
⇒ x − y = 9 .......(1)
⇒ x + y = 15  ......(2)
On adding the eq (1) and eq (2), we get
⇒ x − y + x + y = 9 + 15
⇒ 2x = 24
⇒ x = 12 km/h
Hence, The speed of the boat in still water is 12 km/h.
