Given:
A Voltmeter with R= 2Ω
Vnew = 250V
Ifs = 50mA
We know that,
Rse = Rm(m−1)
Where,
Rse = Series resistance
R= Meter resistance
m = Vnew/Vm
Vnew = Maximum voltage across the meter after extending the range.
V= Meter voltage
∵V= Ifs×Rm
= 50mA ×2Ω
V= 0.1V
m
 
= Vnew/Vm
m = 250/0.1 = 2500
According to using the given formula,
Rse = 2(2500-1) = 4998Ω
