Can you explain the answer of this question below:
Suppose there are two teams A and B. Both of them are competing with each other on a racing track of 1 km. But team A has got the advantage of starting the race from 280 m from the starting point. If the ratio of speed of A to B is 3:4.
  • A:
Team A will win by 20m
  • B:
Team B will win by 20m
  • C:
Team A will win by 40m
  • D:
Team B will win by 40m
The answer is c.

C is correct. Let Va=3v and Vb=4v and from equation s=ut , Ta=720/3v = 240v and Tb= 1000/4v = 250v . Now the distance traveled by team a in time(Tb) = 3v×[250/v] = 750 m. Total distance is 1030 m that is team A wins the race. Now the distance traveled by team b in time (Ta) = 4v×[240/v] =960 m. Therefore team A wins the race by 40 m. Please note this solution on paper then you can clearly understand.
