    Melting
  • C:
    Sublimation
  • D:
    Diffusion
The answer is d.

When we place few crystals of potassium permanganate in a beaker containing water, we get two distinct layers, colourless water at the top and pink colour at the bottom. After few minutes, pink colour spreads and whole solution turns pink due to diffusion. Since potassium permanganate is a solid substance, it does not possess so much space. Water molecules due to liquid state, collide with solid particles and intermix due to sufficient space between molecules.Diffusion refers to the process by which different particles intermingle with each other as a result of their kinetic energy.

Can you explain the answer of this question below:When we put some cry...
Potassium permanganate crystal has numerous particles in it coz its tightly packed and is a solid.and the water has some spaces between its particles coz its a liquid.so when we drop this potassium permanganate crystal in the water then these particles of potassium permanganate mixes in the water and fills out the gaps between the water's particles.so we can see that diffusion occurs here. And as you kow that Diffusion is the movement of a fluid from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Diffusion is a result of the kinetic properties of particles of matter. The particles will mix until they are evenly distributed. Diffusion may also be thought of as the movement of particles down a concentration gradient.

Can you explain the answer of this question below:When we put some cry...
Explanation:

Diffusion is the process by which particles move from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. This is what happens when we put crystals of potassium permanganate in a beaker containing water. The potassium permanganate crystals dissolve in the water, creating a high concentration of potassium permanganate particles in the immediate vicinity of the crystals.

Over time, these particles begin to diffuse throughout the water, moving from areas of high concentration (near the crystals) to areas of low concentration (further away from the crystals). This process continues until the concentration of potassium permanganate particles is equal throughout the beaker.

As the potassium permanganate particles diffuse throughout the water, they give the water a pink color. This is because potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizing agent that reacts with organic matter in the water, causing it to turn pink.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the reason why the water turns pink when we put crystals of potassium permanganate in it is due to the process of diffusion. The potassium permanganate particles dissolve in the water and diffuse throughout it, reacting with organic matter and causing the water to turn pink.
