**Answer:**

**Transpiration from the leaves of trees is an example of evaporation.**

**Explanation:**

Transpiration is the process by which water is lost from the leaves of plants in the form of water vapor. It is a vital process for plants as it helps in the absorption of water and nutrients from the soil, and also in the regulation of temperature.

**Transpiration occurs in three stages:**

1. **Evaporation:** It is the process by which water molecules at the surface of the leaves gain enough energy to change from the liquid state to the gaseous state (water vapor). This process takes place through small openings called stomata present on the surface of leaves.

2. **Diffusion:** Once the water molecules evaporate from the surface of the leaves, they create a concentration gradient between the inside and outside of the leaves. This difference in concentration causes the water vapor to diffuse from an area of higher concentration (inside the leaf) to an area of lower concentration (outside the leaf).

3. **Condensation:** The water vapor released through transpiration eventually condenses into liquid water when it comes into contact with cooler air. This process occurs in the atmosphere, forming clouds and eventually leading to precipitation.

Therefore, transpiration is primarily an evaporation process. It involves the conversion of liquid water into water vapor, which is then released into the atmosphere. This process is essential for maintaining the water balance in plants and for the movement of water from the roots to the leaves.
