In molecule X, C3F4, there are three carbon atoms and four fluorine atoms. The carbon atoms are connected in a chain with two carbon-carbon double bonds. The fluorine atoms are attached to the carbon atoms.

For all the four fluorine atoms to lie in the same plane, they would have to be attached to the same carbon atom. However, in molecule X, the four fluorine atoms are attached to three different carbon atoms. Therefore, it is impossible for all four fluorine atoms to lie in the same plane in molecule X.

In molecule Y, C2B2F4, there are two carbon atoms, two boron atoms, and four fluorine atoms. The carbon atoms are connected by a carbon-carbon triple bond. The boron atoms are attached to the carbon atoms, and the fluorine atoms are attached to the boron atoms.

In molecule Y, all four fluorine atoms are attached to the same boron atom. Therefore, it is possible for all four fluorine atoms to lie in the same plane in molecule Y.

Based on this analysis, the correct answer is (a) X. It is impossible for all four fluorine atoms to lie in the same plane in molecule X, but it is possible in molecule Y.

Find the hybridization and then go for structure. C3F4 will be planer about the double bonds. But in C2B2F4 all the fluorine atoms are attached to Boran which is attached to triple bonded carbon. so its quite difficult to make the molecule planer.
