Mole Ratio:

A mole ratio refers to the ratio between the number of moles of any two compounds or elements taking part in a chemical reaction. It states that for any particular reaction, the ratio between moles of reactants and products is always a whole number ratio of small integers.

Finding the Mole Ratio:

To find the mole ratio, we need to first determine the number of moles of each element or compound involved in the reaction.

The formula for calculating the number of moles is:

Number of moles = Given mass / Molar mass

Where,
Given mass is the mass of the element or compound given in the problem
Molar mass is the atomic mass or molecular mass of the element or compound

Solution:

a) 20 g of sodium and 20 g of calcium

Number of moles of sodium = 20 / 23 = 0.87 mol
Number of moles of calcium = 20 / 40 = 0.5 mol
The mole ratio of sodium to calcium is 0.87:0.5, which is not equal to 1:1.

b) 7 g of nitrogen and 12 gm of sodium

Number of moles of nitrogen = 7 / 14 = 0.5 mol
Number of moles of sodium = 12 / 23 = 0.52 mol
The mole ratio of nitrogen to sodium is 0.5:0.52, which is not equal to 1:1.

c) 10 g of calcium and 6 g of carbon

Number of moles of calcium = 10 / 40 = 0.25 mol
Number of moles of carbon = 6 / 12 = 0.5 mol
The mole ratio of calcium to carbon is 0.25:0.5, which is not equal to 1:1.

d) 14 g of nitrogen and 24 g of magnesium

Number of moles of nitrogen = 14 / 14 = 1 mol
Number of moles of magnesium = 24 / 24.3 = 0.99 mol
The mole ratio of nitrogen to magnesium is 1:0.99, which is approximately equal to 1:1.

Therefore, the correct answer is option 'D' - 14 g of nitrogen and 24 g of magnesium, which represents a mole ratio of 1:1.
