CELSIUS SCALE :
Anders Celsius invented Celsius scale of temperature.
In our daily life we generally use Celsius scale of temperature for measuring temperature. The common unit of measuring temperatures like melting point and boiling points is ‘degree Celsius’. Celsius is written in short form asdegreeC. In Laboratory for performing science experiments we use laboratory thermometer which are calibrated in ‘degree celsius’. The clinical thermometer which we used for measuring the body temperature is calibrated on Celsius scale of temperature.
KELVIN SCALE:
Lord William Thomson Kelvin invented Kelvin scale of temperature.
This thermometer is used by the scientist mainly for research work. Kelvin is the SI unit for measuring temperature. It is denoted by the symbol K. Degree sign (degree) is not written with the Kelvin scale temperature.
The relationship between Kelvin scale and Celsius scale of temperature can be written as :Temperature on kelvin scale = Temperature on Celsius scale + 273
SOLUTION :
GIVEN: Boiling point of alcohol : 78degreeC
Temperature on kelvin scale = Temperature on Celsius scale + 273
Temperature on kelvin scale = 78 +273
Temperature on kelvin scale = 351 K
Hence, temperature of 78degreeC on Celsius scale is equal to 351 K on the Kelvin scale.
