Area of a rectangle having sides a and b is equal to ab.
Perimeter of a rectangle having sides a and b is equal to 2(a + b).
Calculation:
Given:
Ratio of length and width of a rectangle is 4 : 3.
Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be 4a and 3a.
Area of the rectangle is 192 cm2.
4a × 3a = 192
 12a2 = 192
 a2 = 16
 a = 4
Hence length = 4a = 4 × 4 = 16 cm and breadth = 4 × 3 = 12 cm.
Perimeter = 2 (a + b) = 2 (16 + 12) = 2 (28) = 56 cm
Hence the correct answer is option 1.
