The room temperature starts at 40 degrees Celsius and decreases at a rate of 5 degrees Celsius every hour.

Calculating the temperature after 1 hour:
Initial temperature = 40 degrees Celsius
Rate of decrease = 5 degrees Celsius/hour
Temperature after 1 hour = 40 - 5 = 35 degrees Celsius

Calculating the temperature after 2 hours:
Initial temperature = 35 degrees Celsius
Rate of decrease = 5 degrees Celsius/hour
Temperature after 2 hours = 35 - 5 = 30 degrees Celsius
