Separation of Impurities from Rice and Pulses
Separation process is used to remove impurities like dust particles from rice and pulses after washing them.

1. Washing:
First, rice and pulses are washed thoroughly with water to remove any visible dirt or impurities present on their surface.

2. Soaking:
After washing, rice and pulses are soaked in water for a certain period of time. This helps in softening the grains and making it easier to remove impurities.

3. Straining:

4. Sorting:
After straining, the rice and pulses are spread out on a clean surface and visually inspected for any remaining impurities. Any discolored or damaged grains are removed manually.

5. Winnowing:
The final step in the process is winnowing, where the rice and pulses are poured from one container to another in the presence of air. The lighter impurities like dust particles are carried away by the air, while the heavier grains fall back into the container.
