Given: 10 trains between Calcutta and Delhi

To find: Number of ways in which a person can go from Calcutta to Delhi and return by a different train

Solution:

- We can divide the problem into two parts:
- Part 1: Number of ways to go from Calcutta to Delhi
- Part 2: Number of ways to return from Delhi to Calcutta

Part 1:

- To go from Calcutta to Delhi, there are 10 trains available.
- Therefore, the number of ways to go from Calcutta to Delhi = 10

Part 2:

- To return from Delhi to Calcutta, the person cannot take the same train that he took to reach Delhi.
- Therefore, there are only 9 trains available for the return journey.
- Therefore, the number of ways to return from Delhi to Calcutta = 9

Total number of ways:

- As the person can go and return by any of the available trains, we need to multiply the number of ways in Part 1 and Part 2.
- Therefore, the total number of ways = 10 x 9 = 90

Therefore, option (B) 90 is the correct answer.
