Effect of Iodine Solution on Bread:
When iodine solution is added to the bread, the iodine reacts with the starch present in the bread. Starch is a complex carbohydrate made up of glucose molecules, and iodine forms a blue-black complex with starch. Therefore, if the bread contains starch, it will turn blue-black when iodine solution is added to it.

Observations after adding Saliva to the Bread:
- When saliva is added to the bread in the petri dish and left for some time, the amylase enzyme present in saliva starts breaking down the starch in the bread into simpler sugars.
- After some time, when we test for starch using iodine solution in the area where saliva was added, we should observe that the blue-black color does not develop or is less intense compared to the rest of the bread.
- This is because the amylase enzyme in saliva has already started the process of breaking down starch into simpler sugars, which means there is less starch available for the iodine to react with in that particular area.

Explanation:
- Saliva contains the enzyme amylase, which is responsible for breaking down starch into maltose (a simpler sugar). When saliva is added to the bread, amylase starts breaking down the starch molecules into simpler sugars.
- As a result, when we test for starch using iodine solution in the area where saliva was added, the blue-black color does not develop or is less intense because the starch has been partially or fully broken down by the amylase enzyme.
- This experiment demonstrates the role of amylase in the digestion of starch in our food. It also shows how the presence of amylase in saliva helps in the initial breakdown of starch before it reaches the small intestine for further digestion.
