A 20 litre mixture of milk and water contains milk and water in the ra...
Initial Mixture Composition
- The mixture has a total volume of 20 litres.
- The ratio of milk to water is 3:2.
- Milk Volume: (3/5) * 20 = 12 litres
- Water Volume: (2/5) * 20 = 8 litres
First Operation: Removal and Replacement
- 10 litres of the mixture is removed.
- Since the total mixture is 20 litres, the composition of the removed mixture is:
- Milk in Removed Mixture: (12/20) * 10 = 6 litres
- Water in Removed Mixture: (8/20) * 10 = 4 litres
- After removal:
- Remaining Milk: 12 - 6 = 6 litres
- Remaining Water: 8 - 4 = 4 litres
- 10 litres of pure milk is added:
- New Milk Volume: 6 + 10 = 16 litres
- Water Volume remains the same: 4 litres
Second Operation: Removal and Replacement Again
- Again, 10 litres of the new mixture is removed.
- Total new mixture = 16 litres of milk + 4 litres of water = 20 litres.
- Composition of the removed mixture:
- Milk in Removed Mixture: (16/20) * 10 = 8 litres
- Water in Removed Mixture: (4/20) * 10 = 2 litres
- After removal:
- Remaining Milk: 16 - 8 = 8 litres
- Remaining Water: 4 - 2 = 2 litres
- Add 10 litres of pure milk again:
- Final Milk Volume: 8 + 10 = 18 litres
- Water Volume remains the same: 2 litres
Final Ratio of Milk to Water
- Final Milk: 18 litres
- Final Water: 2 litres
- Final Ratio: 18:2 = 9:1
Thus, the correct answer is option 'B'.
