Understanding the Scenario
The problem involves seven friends (P, Q, R, S, T, U, and V) traveling by train, stopping at five stations. We need to deduce details about their boarding and alighting points based on the clues provided.
Analyzing the Clues
- Base Station Boarders: Three of the friends get on at the base station. This indicates that at least one of them must be T, R, or U since none of them gets on at station 2.
- S and U's Stop: S gets off at the station just before U.
- Q and S: Q boards with two others and does not get off with P or T. Q and S get off together at station 3.
- V's Journey: V boards alone at station 3 and gets off with R after one station.
- P's Route: P travels between only two stations and alights at station 5, indicating he must board at station 4.
- R's Boarding: R boards with U and does not board with Q or S, meaning R must board at the base station.
- T's Journey: T boards with two others and gets off alone after S, suggesting T boards at the base station as well.
Conclusion
From the analysis, we can conclude:
- T must be one of the three who boarded at the base station.
- Since R boards with U, and we established R does not board with Q or S, the only feasible option left for T is that he must have boarded at the base station.
Therefore, the correct answer is option 'A': T gets in at the base station.
