According to me,yes they do.The time we waste can never be regained.

We spend too much time there even after deciding not to spend more than half an hour we spend hours after the phone which is worst if we want to achieve something by studying.

NOTHING OR NOBODY WILL COME TO YOUR RESCUE EXCEPT YOURSELF AND YOUR EDUCATION.

If you're able to use the social media, be it any social media, without diversions, then it's all fine, if you feel it diverts you from your education or work, the best thing is to uninstall, deactivate. At least in till you accomplish what you have taken up, be it education or whatever.
