A and B are partners sharing profits in the ratio of 5 : 3. they admit...
Solution:

Given, A and B are partners sharing profits in the ratio of 5:3

Let the total profit be x.

Therefore, A's share = 5x/8 and B's share = 3x/8

C acquires 1/4th share which is (1/4)x.

C acquires 1/6th from A which is (1/6)*(5x/8) = 5x/48

C acquires 1/12th from B which is (1/12)*(3x/8) = x/32

Therefore, C's total share = (1/4)x = 5x/48 + x/32 = 5x/96 + 3x/96 = 8x/96 = x/12

Thus, C's share is x/12

The new ratio of profit sharing will be (5x/8 - 5x/48) : (3x/8 - x/32) : (x/12) = (25x - 5x)/48 : (24x - 3x)/48 : 4x/48 = 20x/48 : 21x/48 : 4x/48

Simplifying the ratio, we get 10x/24 : 14x/24 : 3x/24 = 5 : 7 : 6

Therefore, the new profit sharing ratio of the partners is 5:7:6.
