Radiation is the transfer of heat in the form of rays or waves. It doesn't require a medium. APPLICATIONS OF RADIATION 1.Cooking utensils are painted black as black is a good absorber. 2.Crockery should be lighter in shade. 3.Petrol tanks are painted white so that it doesn't absorb heat and doesn't catch fire as it is highly imflammable substance. 4. Car radiators are cooling fins of a refrigerator are painted black so that they lose heat at faster rate. 5. White or light coloured clothes are preferred in summer as it is a poor absorber of heat. 6. Dark coloured clothes are preferred in winter.
