Conversion used by a lawn-sprinkler which is a four bar mechanism

Introduction:
A four-bar mechanism is a type of mechanical linkage that is used to convert one type of motion into another type of motion. It consists of four rigid bodies, or bars, connected together by four joints, or hinges. One of the most common uses of a four-bar mechanism is in lawn sprinklers.

Rotary motion to oscillatory motion:
When a lawn sprinkler is turned on, it uses a four-bar mechanism to convert rotary motion into oscillatory motion. The mechanism consists of four bars that are connected together by four joints. The first bar is connected to the sprinkler head and rotates in a circular motion. The second bar is connected to the first bar and moves back and forth in a straight line. The third bar is connected to the second bar and moves in a circular motion. The fourth bar is connected to the third bar and moves back and forth in a straight line. As the first bar rotates, it causes the second bar to move back and forth, which in turn causes the third bar to move in a circular motion. This circular motion causes the sprinkler head to move back and forth in an oscillatory motion.

Working of a lawn sprinkler:
The lawn sprinkler works by using the four-bar mechanism to distribute water over a large area. As the sprinkler head moves back and forth, it sprays water in a circular pattern. This pattern covers a larger area than a stationary sprinkler head would be able to cover. The oscillatory motion of the sprinkler head also helps to prevent water from pooling in one area of the lawn.
