 Given equations,
-2x - ky -9 = 0  .. (a)
4x – 10y + 18 = 0  .. (b)
Multiply the equation (a) with 2 and add it to equation (b), we get
 ⇒ -4x - 2ky - 18 +4x - 10y + 18 = 0
⇒ -2ky -10y = 0
⇒ -2ky = 10y
⇒ -2k = 10
⇒ k = -5
