Concept: Collision.Case I:Before it hits the wall, it's moving with velocity =√2^2+2^2.= √(4+4)= √(8) = 2.82. [ By using Pythagoras theorem].Case II:After it hits the wall.The only i component of the vector is reversed and multiplied by the coefficient of restitution. So after the collision, velocity vector will become,√(2 x1/2)^2 + 2^2= √5= 2.23[ by using again Pythagoras theorem] Hence, the velocity of sphere after hits the wall is 2.23.Actually, I m not be able to upload the figure bt I think u can also draw the figure by yourself......I hope it will help you.
