Given : A magnesium alloy contains 24% of magnesium.
To find : The number of atoms of magnesium are present in 1 g of alloy.
solution : mass of magnesium in 1 g of alloy = 24% of mass of alloy
= 24/100 � 1
= 0.24 g
atomic weight of Magnesium = 24 g/mol
so, no of moles of magnesium = given weight/atomic weight
⇒0.24/24 = 0.01 mol
the number of atoms of mg = no of moles of Mg � Avogadro's number
= 0.01 � 6.023 � 10��
= 6.023 � 10��
Therefore 6.023 � 10�� atoms of mg are present in 1g of alloy.
