- Commercial jet aircraft often fly in the lower stratosphere to take advantage of its smooth air currents.

3. Mesosphere:

- The mesosphere is the third layer of the atmosphere, extending from the top of the stratosphere to an altitude of about 85 kilometers (53 miles) above the Earth's surface.
- It is the layer where meteors burn up upon entering the Earth's atmosphere, creating shooting stars.
- The mesosphere is characterized by extremely low temperatures, reaching as low as -90 degrees Celsius (-130 degrees Fahrenheit).
- It is also the layer where the air density is the lowest, making it difficult for aircraft to fly at this altitude.

4. Thermosphere:

- The thermosphere is located above the mesosphere and extends up to an altitude of about 600 kilometers (372 miles) above the Earth's surface.
- This layer experiences extremely high temperatures, reaching up to 2,500 degrees Celsius (4,500 degrees Fahrenheit), although it would not feel hot to us due to the low density of particles.

5. Exosphere:

- The exosphere is the outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere, gradually merging with the vacuum of space.

- The particles in the exosphere are highly dispersed, and collisions between them are rare.
