Solution:

Given:

Mass of X = 5g
Mass of XH4 + X2H6 = 5.628g
Molar ratio of XH4 and X2H6 = 2:1

Let the molar mass of X be 'M'

Moles of XH4 = (2/3) moles of X2H6

Let the number of moles of XH4 be 'x' and the number of moles of X2H6 be 'y'

Moles of XH4 = 2x
Moles of X2H6 = x

Moles of X = moles of XH4 + moles of X2H6
x + 2x = 3x

Molar mass of X = (Mass of X) / (Number of moles of X)
M = 5g / 3x

Molar mass of XH4 = (Mass of XH4) / (Number of moles of XH4)
Molar mass of XH4 = 16g/mol (as it is analogous to CH4)

Molar mass of X2H6 = (Mass of X2H6) / (Number of moles of X2H6)
Molar mass of X2H6 = 30g/mol (as it is analogous to C2H6)

Mass of XH4 = (2x)(16g/mol) = 32x g/mol
Mass of X2H6 = x(30g/mol) = 30x g/mol

Total mass of XH4 + X2H6 = 32x + 30x = 62x g/mol

From the given data:

Mass of XH4 + X2H6 = 5.628g
62x g/mol = 5.628g
x = 0.091mol

Molar mass of X = 5g / (3x) = 5g / (3*0.091mol) = 18.1g/mol

Therefore, the molar mass of X is 18.1g/mol, which is option D.
