Verified Answer
two like parallel forces are acting at a distance of 24 mm apart and t...
F1+F2=20-------> (1).
14F1-6F2=20-----> (2).
Solving equation (1)& (2).
F1 = 5N.
F2 = 15N.

two like parallel forces are acting at a distance of 24 mm apart and t...
Given information:
- Distance between two parallel forces = 24 mm
- Resultant of the forces = 20 N
- Distance between resultant and one of the forces = 6 mm

To find:
- Magnitude of the two forces

Solution:
Let's assume the two forces to be F1 and F2
- We know that the resultant of two parallel forces acting in the same direction is given by the sum of the two forces.
- Therefore, F1 + F2 = 20 N ...(1)
- Also, we know that the perpendicular distance between the two parallel forces is equal to the distance between the line of action of the resultant and either of the forces.
- Therefore, F1 x 6 mm = F2 x 18 mm (since the distance between the forces is 24 mm)
- F1/F2 = 18/6 = 3 ...(2)
- Substituting equation (2) in equation (1), we get:
F1 + 3F1 = 20 N
4F1 = 20 N
F1 = 5 N
- Substituting the value of F1 in equation (1), we get:
F2 = 15 N

Therefore, the two forces are 5 N and 15 N, which is option (A).
