Given, the frequency of the fundamental note emitted by a stretched string is doubled by reducing the length to 3/4th of the original length and changing the tension.

Let the original length of the string be L and the tension be T.

Frequency (f) of the fundamental note emitted by a stretched string is given by:

f = (1/2L)√(T/μ)

where μ is the linear density of the string.

To double the frequency of the fundamental note, the new frequency (f') should be equal to 2f.

Therefore, 2f = (1/2(3/4)L)√(T'/μ)

where T' is the new tension.

Simplifying the above equation, we get

T' = 9/4 T
