Given

u1=u u2=2u

v1=0 v2=0

a1=-a a2=-a

s1=s1 s2=?

Now according to equation of motion

v² - u² = 2as

0 - u² = - 2as1.........(1)

0 - 4u² = - 2as2............(2) [ negative sign shows retardation]

dividing eqn (1) by eqn (2)

1/4=s1/s2

=> s2 = 4 s1

Hence the distance will be increased by 4 times.....
