Q. If a gas is expanded at constant temperature
  • a)
    the pressure decreases
  • b)
the kinetic energy of the molecules remains the same
  • c)
the kinetic energy of the molecules decreases
  • d)
the number of molecules of the gas increases
Correct answer is option 'A,B'. Can you explain this answer?

Direction (Q. Nos. 14-15) This section contains 4multiple choice quest...
At constant temperature, P is inversely proportional to V. So for expansion, V increases and so P decreases. KE is 3/2 kT (for one atoom) or 3/2RT(for 1 mole). And with constant temperature, KE also remains constant.
