Acidity of BF3:

When BF3 reacts with a Lewis base, such as NH3, the boron atom accepts a lone pair of electrons from the nitrogen atom in NH3. This forms a coordinate covalent bond, also known as a dative bond, between the boron and nitrogen atoms. The resulting species is called an adduct.

BF3 + NH3 → BF3NH3

In this reaction, BF3 acts as an acid because it accepts an electron pair from NH3, which acts as a base. The Lewis base (NH3) donates its electron pair to the electron-deficient boron atom in BF3, forming a more stable adduct.
