Doping Control Procedure

1. Notification:
Athletes are selected for doping control either randomly or based on suspicion. They are notified of the selection and required to report to the doping control station immediately.

2. Sample Collection:
Athletes provide urine and/or blood samples under the supervision of a chaperone. They must select a sealed kit from a selection of kits provided to prevent tampering.

3. Sample Splitting:
The athlete's sample is divided into two separate containers - A and B. Container A is tested immediately, while Container B is stored securely for potential retesting.

4. Documentation:
Athletes must provide identification and complete paperwork to document the sample collection process. They can also provide any necessary medical or therapeutic use exemptions.

5. Witnessing:
The entire sample collection process is witnessed by Doping Control Officers to ensure its integrity. Athletes can request a representative to witness the process as well.

6. Sealing and Transport:
Once the samples are collected, they are sealed and labeled properly. They are then transported to a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory for analysis.

7. Analysis:
At the laboratory, the samples undergo thorough analysis to detect any prohibited substances. The results are reviewed by an independent panel of experts before being reported to the relevant sports authorities.

8. Results Management:
If a sample tests positive for a prohibited substance, the athlete is notified and given the opportunity to provide a defense. If found guilty, the athlete may face sanctions such as suspension or disqualification.

By following these steps, the doping control procedure ensures a fair and clean competition environment for all athletes.
