First we will find the answer of :-
-2+(-3)-(-6)
-2-3+6
-5+6
+1
and now we will represent it on number line
step 1 : draw a line
step 2 : divide it into equal measurements of 1 cm each including both positive and negative integers and 0
step 3 : then go two steps behind zero or can say to the left of zero to show -2 (draw a ray including -2 written in an oval and arrows to show direction in which you are moving from 0 to -2)
step 4 : now move 3 steps more towards the left of -2 (draw a ray including -3 written in an oval and arrows to show direction in which you are moving from -2 to -5).
step 5 : now move 6 steps towards the right of -5 (draw a ray including +6 written in an oval and arrows to show direction in which you are moving from -5 to +1).
NOTE : while drawing the line on which you have shown integers don't forget to mark arrows and do equal measurements).

Representation of Integers on a Number Line - Integers, Mathematics Class 6

Integers are whole numbers that can be positive or negative, including zero. They are represented on a number line, which is a straight line with numbers marked at equal intervals. The number line helps visualize the position of integers relative to each other.

Number Line Basics

A number line consists of a horizontal line with numbers marked at equal intervals. The numbers increase as you move from left to right on the number line. The middle point of the number line is usually marked as zero, and the positive numbers are marked to the right of zero, while the negative numbers are marked to the left.

Representing Positive Integers

Positive integers are represented by points to the right of zero on the number line. Each point corresponds to a specific positive integer. For example, the number 2 is represented by a point two units to the right of zero, while the number 5 is represented by a point five units to the right of zero.

Representing Negative Integers

Negative integers are represented by points to the left of zero on the number line. Each point corresponds to a specific negative integer. For example, the number -2 is represented by a point two units to the left of zero, while the number -5 is represented by a point five units to the left of zero.

Representing Zero

Zero is represented by the point at the middle of the number line. It has neither a positive nor a negative value and serves as the reference point for positive and negative integers.

Representation of -2 (-3)-(-6)

To represent the expression -2 (_3)-(-6) on a number line, we can break it down step by step:

1. Start by representing -2. Place a point two units to the left of zero on the number line.
2. Next, represent -3. Starting from the point representing -2, move three units to the left. This will give you a point five units to the left of zero.
3. Finally, represent -(-6). The expression -(-6) is equivalent to adding 6. So, starting from the point representing -3, move six units to the right. This will give you a point three units to the left of zero.

In summary, the expression -2 (_3)-(-6) is represented on the number line by a point three units to the left of zero.
