Verified Answer
what is a water cycle ? with the help of diagram , explain the water c...
Water cycle is the continuous circulation of water which maintains the water level on the earth as evaporation of sea water is done by sun then the water vapours rises up and expand and cool and form clouds this is called condensation then the clouds start floating they become heavy to float so they fall in the form of rain this is called transpiration  then this water again goes to rivers and underground or runs through surface also . this process continues . and amount of water in oceans or seas remains same the diagram for the same is here in attachment.

The water cycle, also known as the hydrological cycle, is the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the Earth's surface. It involves the processes of evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and runoff, and plays a crucial role in maintaining the Earth's water balance. Here is a detailed explanation of the water cycle, supported by a diagram:

The Water Cycle:

1. Evaporation: The first step in the water cycle is evaporation. Heat from the sun causes water from oceans, lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water to turn into water vapor or steam. This process occurs when the energy from the sun's rays breaks the bonds between water molecules, allowing them to escape into the atmosphere as vapor.

2. Condensation: As the water vapor rises into the atmosphere, it cools and condenses into tiny water droplets or ice crystals. These droplets form clouds, which are visible masses of water vapor suspended in the air. Condensation occurs due to the cooling of the air or when the air becomes saturated with moisture.

3. Precipitation: When the water droplets in clouds become too heavy, they fall back to the Earth's surface as precipitation. Precipitation can take various forms such as rain, snow, sleet, or hail, depending on the temperature and atmospheric conditions. This water replenishes the Earth's surface, filling up rivers, lakes, and groundwater reservoirs.

4. Runoff: Once the precipitation reaches the Earth's surface, it either infiltrates into the ground or flows over the land as runoff. Runoff occurs when the ground is saturated, and excess water cannot be absorbed. It collects in streams, rivers, and eventually makes its way back to the oceans, where the cycle starts again.

The diagram illustrates the various stages of the water cycle. It shows the continuous movement of water from the Earth's surface to the atmosphere and back again. Starting with evaporation, it depicts the transformation of liquid water into water vapor, followed by condensation where the vapor forms clouds. The clouds then release precipitation in the form of rain or snow, which eventually leads to runoff and the return of water to the oceans.

Conclusion:

The water cycle is a vital process that ensures the availability of freshwater on Earth. It is a dynamic system that continuously circulates water in different forms and locations. By understanding the water cycle, we can appreciate the interconnectedness of Earth's water resources and the importance of conserving and managing them sustainably.
