Snakes are considered scary and frightening. They are considered as Death Symbols. Almost all of us consider them the most harmful and dangerous creature on the Earth.
But the poet offers a different opinion about them. Snakes are not harmful according to him. They harm humans only when they feel danger for their own life. In this poem, the poet shows that snake itself is a victim of human cruelty.
LITERARY DEVICES
1. The poet has written it in a free verse style. So the Rhyming scheme is absent in this poem.
2. Transferred epithet: It is the adjective used with a noun. This adjective refers to a noun other than the one with which it is used.
For example: Pursuing stick - Here the adjective pursuing refers to the person who is holding the stick. It does not refer the stick itself.
3. Alliteration: It is the repetition of a sound. This sound is a consonant sound. This repetition can be present in 2 or more consecutive words.
