#Practice Question

Question for Advice to Aspirants - CAT : Quantitative Aptitude
Try yourself:Ques 1: How many of the integers 1, 2, …, 120, are divisible by none of 2, 5 and 7?
View Solution

Ques 2: In a class, 60% of the students are girls and the rest are boys. There are 30 more girls than boys. If 68% of the students, including 30 boys, pass an examination, the percentage of the girls who do not pass is?
Ans: 20%
Explanation: Let total number of students in the class = x
Number of girls = 60% of x = 0.6x
Number of boys = x – 0.6x = 0.4x
Given, 0.6x – 0.4x = 30
So, x = 150
Therefore, number of students = 150
Number of boys = 0.4x = 0.4*150= 60
Number of girls = 150 – 60 =90
Number of students who do not pass the exams = 32% of x = 32x/100 = 32*1.5 = 48
Number of boys who failed= 60 -30 = 30
So, number of girls who failed = 48 – 30 = 18
Required percentage = 18/90 *100 = 20%
