Steps:
Let us arrange the data in ascending order, we have,
30, 35, 40, 46, 56, x, 64, 76, 88, 91, 91
x is put after 56 as it is given that the median is 58 .
By observation, we can find that the data provided are 11 numbers and their count is odd.
Median is the middle number and it is x here.
∴ x = 58

= 35

(a) Steps to find the probability of a boy securing first position in the class:
Boy securing first position in class = Number of Boys in Class / Total Number of Students in Class
= 15/35
= 3/7
∴ Boy securing first position in class = 3/7
(b) Steps to find the probability of a girl securing first position in the class:
Girl securing first position in class = Number of girls in class / Total number of students in class
= 20 / 35
