  • Perimeter: P= Sum of length of all the sides
  • Area: A=(1/2)d(h1+ h2)

8. Rhombus

Important Formulas: Mensuration | Mathematics (Maths) Class 8

  • Perimeter: P=4a
  • Area: A= (1/2)×d1 × d2
Where d1 and d2 are the diagonals of the Rhombus.

FAQs on Important Formulas: Mensuration - Mathematics (Maths) Class 8

1. What is mensuration and why is it important?
Ans. Mensuration is the branch of mathematics that deals with the measurement of geometric figures such as length, area, volume, and angles. It is important because it helps us solve real-life problems related to measurement and provides a foundation for advanced mathematical concepts.
2. What are some commonly used formulas in mensuration?
Ans. Some commonly used formulas in mensuration include: - Area of a rectangle: length × width - Area of a triangle: 1/2 × base × height - Area of a circle: π × radius^2 - Volume of a cuboid: length × width × height - Volume of a cylinder: π × radius^2 × height
3. How can I find the area of an irregular shape?
Ans. To find the area of an irregular shape, you can break it down into smaller regular shapes (such as rectangles, triangles, or circles) and calculate their individual areas. Then, add up the areas of all the smaller shapes to find the total area of the irregular shape.
4. What is the difference between perimeter and area?
Ans. Perimeter is the distance around the boundary of a two-dimensional shape, while area is the measure of the surface covered by the shape. In simple terms, perimeter focuses on the length of the boundary, while area focuses on the space enclosed by the shape.
5. How can I use mensuration in real-life situations?
Ans. Mensuration can be used in various real-life situations such as measuring the area of a field, calculating the volume of a swimming pool, determining the surface area of a house for painting purposes, or even estimating materials needed for construction projects. It is a practical tool that helps us solve measurement-related problems in our daily lives.
