Union Council of Ministers 2023-2024

Following a decisive victory in the 2019 General Elections, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, freshly re-elected, assumed office alongside the Council of Ministers on Thursday, May 30th. According to the Indian Constitution, the Council of Ministers' total count cannot surpass 15% of the total Lok Sabha MPs, which stands at 543 for the current 17th Lok Sabha, thus capping the Council at 81 members. At the swearing-in ceremony, the Council included the Prime Minister and 63 ministers. In the 2024 Council, there are 29 Cabinet Ministers, 3 Ministers of State (Independent Charge), and 47 Ministers of State. The allocation of portfolios took place on Friday, May 31st, 2019.

A few key names from the previous Modi government are missing from the new list. Maneka Gandhi and former Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore were not a part of the 2022-22 Cabinet.
In the newly formed cabinet, PM Modi holds the following portfolios:
