Ans. Place value plays a crucial role in rounding numbers. When rounding, we consider the digit in the place value we want to round to. If the digit to the right of that place value is 5 or greater, we round the number up by increasing the digit in the place value we are rounding to. If the digit to the right is less than 5, we round the number down by leaving the digit in the place value we are rounding to unchanged.
