SSC CGL 2023 Overview

Knowing what to study is just as important as knowing how to study. According to the Exam Calendar of SSC, the SSC CGL Exam 2023 Tier 1 Exam is scheduled from 14th July to 27th July 2023.

• Tier 1:  As per the revised SSC CGL paper pattern, tier 1 is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted to test candidates' knowledge in specific domains like Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic English, Economics, etc.   
• Tier 2: As per the revised SSC CGL exam pattern, the Tier 2 exam will be conducted in 3 phases.
  Paper 1 of SSC CGL Tier 2 is a computer-based test divided into four sections- Quantitative Abilities, English, Reasoning, and General Awareness. It will also comprise of Data Entry Test and Computer Proficiency Test.
   Paper 2 and Paper 3 of SSC CGL Tier 2 will comprise of 100 questions on Statistics and General Studies, respectively.

SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 Exam Pattern 

The Tier 1 exam is an online-based exam that comprises 4 sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English with a total no. of 100 questions.

• Each Section will have 25 questions. 
• Each correct answer is awarded 2 marks, and there is a negative marking of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer. 
• The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates’ General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society.

The English Comprehension section of SSC CGL Tier-1 exam will only be in the English language. It consists of 25 questions worth a total of 50 marks, and assesses a candidate's understanding of the subject, as well as their basic comprehension and writing abilities.

SSC CGL 2023 Tier 2 Exam Pattern

After the preliminary exam has been conducted, it will be necessary to gear up for the Tier-2 Exam of the SSC CGL 2023 Exam. The Mains Exam will be conducted online and is an objective multiple-choice exam, except for Module II (Data Entry Speed Test) of Section III of Paper-I. 

• Paper-I will be conducted in two sessions - Session I & Session II, on the same day and is compulsory for all candidates who qualify in Paper 1. 
• Session-I will include conducting Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. 
• Session-II will include conducting Module II of Section III. It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all the sections of Paper-I.
