Ques 1: A man is getting his beard shaved by a barber. How this is related to health?

Ans: If the tool used by barber to shave his beard is not sterilized and clean and then it may affect health of man .

Ques 2: A lady is carrying drinking water from an open well. How this is related to health?

Ans: If the lady and her family will drink water of the open and polluted well without boiling or cleaning it, then they may fall ill or may prone to infections and diseases.

Ques 3: A boy lives in a neighbourhood where there are lot of plants, parks and garbage bins. Safai karamcharies always cleans his surrounding and take out the garbage kept in garbage bins. Do you think Aman lives in healthy environment? Ques 4: Lavy lives at a place where garbage is thrown here and there. There is no dustbin in her society and no clean water coming out from tap. Water puddles are here and there on which flies keeps on fluttering. Do you think Lavy lives in healthy environment? Give reason for your answer.

Ans: No, because there is no cleanliness in her place. Water puddles and garbage promotes growth of flies and disease causing microbes.

Ques 5: Why do you think why most of the doctors settle in urban area?

Ans: Individual answer.

Ques 6: What do you mean by proper and adequate health care facilities?

Ans: Proper and adequate health care facilities mean adequate number of health centres and hospitals, laboratories with proper facilities for testing, quick ambulance service and blood bank facilities. All these services and facilities should be easily accessible to people.

Ques 7: Differentiate between public health care system and private health care system.

Ans: Public health care system runs by government, it is less costly. It involves government hospitals and health care centres, while private health care system is runned by people. It is expensive and involves private clinic and hospitals.

Ques 8: Why government hospitals are less expensive as compared to private hospitals?

Ans: Government hospitals are run by the taxes and fund collected by government from people. They are for welfare of people to provide better service without any profit.

Ques 9: Describe the function of public health system.

Ans: To provide quality health care service at low cost to people, it also includes taking necessary action against spread of various diseases like malaria, TB, cholera, jaundice etc.

Ques 10: Why it is important to pay taxes to government?

Ans: Because government uses tax money to provide services for benefits of public. Like defence, police judicial system, road and highways construction etc. it also funds some developmental programmes related with health and education. Tax money is used for relief and rehabilitation in case of natural disaster like floods, tsunami, earthquakes, etc. Space, missile and nuclear programmes are also funded from tax money.

Ques 11: To earn more money, private hospitals are encouraging practices that are not correct. Comment on the statement.

Ans: This is true in some cases. Instead of availability of cheaper methods, some private health care centres use expensive methods. It is very common to find doctors prescribing unnecessary medicines, injections and saline bottles when tablets or simple medicines can suffice.
