human life has been transformed in the

from a nation in which most of its six
to seven million people depended upon
farming for their living - a nation of
about 27 million people most of whom
were masked together in urban slums
often built just to house them other
nations were similarly transformed as
industrialization spread to the mainland
of Europe to North America and to the
Far East
besides the changes within each nation
there were changes in the relationships
between nations as those that had
industrialized or were industrializing
