What is loading effect?
Ref: https://edurev.in/question/433745/What-is-loading-effect-

Consider a simple case in which you want to supply the whole V(O) to the load resistance R(L). Now this can only take place when either R(O)=0 or when R(L)=∞. Since both of the cases are impossible to achieve practically so whole V(O) can never be supplied to load resistor. This phenomenon is called loading.Loading is inherent in any practical circuit available. Only way to decrease it to maximise the load and minimise the internal resistance R(O).

Loading can occur in many ways but in the core of all types of loading is a other resistance coming in parallel or series with the load.

FAQs on What is loading effect? - IIT JAM

1. What is the loading effect?
Ans. The loading effect refers to the phenomenon where the measurement of a circuit or system is affected by the act of measuring it. It occurs when the instrument used to measure the circuit alters the behavior of the circuit itself, leading to inaccurate measurements.
2. How does the loading effect affect circuit measurements?
Ans. The loading effect can affect circuit measurements by introducing additional resistance, capacitance, or inductance to the circuit being measured. This alteration in the circuit's characteristics can significantly change the values of voltage, current, or impedance, leading to incorrect readings and analysis.
3. What are the common causes of the loading effect?
Ans. The common causes of the loading effect include the impedance mismatch between the circuit and the measuring instrument, improper grounding or shielding, inadequate probe or test lead selection, and the introduction of parasitic elements such as stray capacitance or inductance.
4. How can the loading effect be minimized or eliminated?
Ans. To minimize or eliminate the loading effect, it is important to use measuring instruments with high input impedance, such as oscilloscopes with a high input resistance. Additionally, proper probe selection and calibration, careful grounding and shielding techniques, and the use of compensation techniques like compensation circuits or probes can help minimize the loading effect.
5. What are the consequences of neglecting the loading effect in circuit measurements?
Ans. Neglecting the loading effect in circuit measurements can lead to inaccurate analysis and interpretation of circuit behavior. This can result in incorrect troubleshooting, design, or evaluation decisions. It may also lead to the inability to detect or diagnose certain circuit issues, such as high-frequency oscillations or impedance mismatches, which can adversely affect the overall performance of the circuit.
