Snout plays the role of the Wall in the Mechanicals' production of Pyramus and Thisbe. More specifically, he plays the role of the hole in the wall through which Pyramus and Thisbe communicate. It is though the hole in the wall that the two lovers make plans to meet at Ninus's tomb.
