Anita and the Honeybees

• This chapter tells the true story of Anita, known as Girl Star, who lived in Bochaha village, Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, with her parents and two younger brothers. 
• Despite facing many challenges, she convinced her parents to let her go to school, even though her father initially believed girls shouldn't. 
• Anita eventually attended college and also started beekeeping.
• All this was not easy for Anita. When she was young, she spent all her time with her goats as they grazed for food. Anita always wanted to go to school but her parents did not like the idea of girls going to school.

A Dream of School

• One day, Anita went to school and quietly sat in her classroom. 
• She felt really excited about learning. 
• Gathering her courage, she went home to talk to her parents about it. 
• Her teacher from school also spoke to her parents about the importance of studying. 
• Eventually, her parents agreed, and the next day Anita began going to school.

Staying in School

• Until Anita reached class 6, she didn't need to spend her own money for school. 
• But for higher studies, she needed money her parents couldn't provide. 
• They told her to stop going to school. 
• So, Anita started teaching other kids to earn money for her education. 
• Her parents eventually realized her dream and supported her a lot.

From School to Bee-Keeping

• Anita's village had many litchi trees that attracted honeybees. 
• She thought of beekeeping and took a government course to learn about it. 
• Honeybees lay their eggs from October to December, which is the best time for beekeeping, as per her research.

Becoming a Bee-Keeper

• Once Anita finished her beekeeping course, she began keeping her own bees. 
• She used the money she earned from teaching to buy beekeeping supplies like boxes, sugar for syrup, and medicines to clean the hives. 

• In addition to her beekeeping duties, Anita attended village meetings to discuss the importance of education. 
• She also aimed to become a wholesaler to ensure villagers got fair prices for their honey.
