UPSC CSE is one of the most awaited UPSC exams, with lakhs of candidates competing. One of the important aspects of the UPSC CSE exam is the exam centres. Candidates have more options to choose from for their Prelims exam than their mains. So, deciding your exam centre becomes crucial at least from the Mains point of view.

In this article, students will find complete information about UPSC CSE Prelims, Mains and Interview centres.

How UPSC Allots Exam Centers?

Following is the methodology adopted by UPSC to allot exam centres:

  • At the time of submission of online application for UPSC you have to submit your Prelims and Mains exam centre choices.
  • UPSC follows the principle of “First Come First Serve.” If the exam centre of your choice gets filled, it will get freeze and you have to choose another exam centre.
  • Since the number of mains centres is less. So plan accordingly. Mains exam lasts for 2 weeks, with the exam on weekends. You may have to make travel and stay arrangements, for mains.
  • Out of all the centres only Nagpur, Kolkata, Dispur and Chennai have unlimited seats for candidates, i.e., they are not frozen.
