Procedure To Conduct GPE

• The GTO explains a model to the candidates on a wooden plank and allows them to ask questions afterwards.
• Next, the GTO reads a story from a card, and the candidates must pay attention.
• After reading the story, each candidate has five minutes to read the story card placed on their chair and connect it to the model. They should create a mental image because the story cards will be taken away after five minutes.
• Candidates are then asked to write their own solutions to various problems on a sheet of paper within ten minutes.
• Once the time is up, the writing sheets are collected, and the group is expected to discuss and come up with a common plan for the problem. They must nominate one person to present the group plan to the GTO.

Steps Involved In GPE

• The GTO shows an outdoor field using a model.
• The GTO describes the situations, explains the colour code, distance, and different figures.
• Each candidate receives the story page for five minutes.
• After that, the GTO gives 10 minutes for writing solutions to different problems.
• A group discussion (GD) takes place for 20 minutes, and candidates are asked to reach a conclusion.
• One candidate is nominated from the group to represent the group's solutions.
• The nominated candidate presents the solution to the GTO using a stick and the map.
• The GTO may ask questions or request clarifications.

Story Card:

• You are a group of students returning from Rampur town after a picnic at Gauri farm. You need to be back by 11 am today. As a safety measure in the Ghana jungle, you brought along three guns and ammunition.
• Early this morning, four of you witnessed a plane crash landing nearby. Upon reaching the crash site, you found the pilot alive with minor injuries. He informed you that he was carrying a safety mechanism weighing 150 kgs, which was urgently needed at the atomic power plant in Rampur by 8 am. The absence of this mechanism would result in a major accident with significant loss of life and property.
• At the same time, a worker from the farm, who resides in Rampur, approached you and informed you that 15 minutes ago, a tiger had severely injured a person in his village, Rajghat. The injured person was bleeding heavily and unconscious. He pleaded with you to kill the tiger, as it had been frequently attacking people in his village. When you asked for more information, he mentioned that the only tractor available returns to the Gauri farm by 7:30 am every day after unloading grains in the Gauri village. He also informed you that vehicles pass on the GT road every 10 minutes and on the Rampur-Sitapur Road every 20 minutes.
• While discussing what to do, a motorboat operator approached you and revealed that the plane had damaged the bridge during the crash landing. He also mentioned that a passenger train departs from Sitapur to Rampur at 6:15 am daily. Additionally, he remembered that there was a motorized inspection trolley available at the flag station. The boat operator offered his full assistance and informed you that his boat can accommodate up to five people. There is no mobile telephone service in the area. The current time is 6 am.
