Activity 1: Weaving Paper

  • Take two different coloured papers.
  • Draw vertical and horizontal lines on one piece of paper.
  • Both papers should be cut along the marked lines. Take care not to let the strips separate completely.
  • As shown in the image, stack one paper on top of the other along the edges (in colour). Stick the edges together.
  • To make a mat, weave the strips together.
  • To keep the mat from opening up, use tape or a paper border around the edges.

  • You saw designs of flowers and leaves made on cloth in the lesson 'The Plant Fairy.'
  • Cut-vegetable designs can be made by you as well.
  • Cut a cauliflower or lady finger into small pieces.
  • To make your own designs, paint the cut face and make prints on a piece of paper or cloth.
