he Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the UPSC Notification 2023 for the Civil Services Examination on 1st February 2023 on their official website. Before February 21, 2023, candidates should submit their UPSC Application Form online at upsconline.nic.in. Aspirants can apply for the UPSC 2023 Exam application form from the 1st of February 2023 to till 21st of February 2023.
In the year 2023, the commission is filling 1105 vacancies, including 37 for individuals in the benchmark disability category, 15 for individuals with locomotor disabilities, such as those with cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, victims of acid attacks, and muscular dystrophy, and 10 for individuals with multiple disabilities. UPSC Date 2023: The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the preliminary Civil Services Examination between 15th September to 24th September 2023 all over India, in order to fill all the vacancies of the central government under Group A and Group B which will also include Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2023.

The IAS exam is another name for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE). Every year, the CSE is conducted for lakhs of applicants to take the examination, but only a handful of applicants are chosen. The UPSC CSE is a three-stage examination that consists of a Prelims Exam, a Main Examination and a Personality Test (Interview Round).
The preliminary examination is an objective type screening test. Candidates who pass the preliminary exam proceed to the main exam which consists of 9 papers i.e., Essay paper, English, General Studies, and Optional Subject papers. The main examination is subjective in nature. The interview or personality test is the last stage of the UPSC CSE exam.
Candidates who want to qualify for the UPSC 2023 examination in order to become IAS/ IPS/ IFS and other officers must fulfil all the eligibility requirements mentioned in the official notification. It is the minimum necessary qualification needed to take the exam.
A candidate must have a minimum age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years.
Candidates seeking benefits for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen must make sure they are eligible for those benefits according to the eligibility requirements mentioned in the Rules/Notice.
A candidate must possess an equivalent degree or hold a graduate degree from any of the Indian universities established by an act of the central or state legislature, or from one of the other educational institutions recognised as universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
Each candidate who appears for the UPSC 2023 examination and is otherwise eligible to give the examination is liable to six (6) attempts to take the UPSC CSE. Candidates from the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD categories who are otherwise eligible, however, will be allowed a relaxation in the number of attempts.
Such candidates may make the following number of attempts under the relaxation:
UPSC 2023 Exam Fees: Candidates must pay a fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) either by remitting the money to any State Bank of India (SBI) branch, by using a Visa, Mastercard, or RuPay credit or debit card, or by using SBI’s Internet Banking. All Female/SC/ST/Persons with benchmark disabilities candidates are exempted from paying a fee. However, OBC/EWS candidates are not eligible for any fee exemptions and must pay the entire amount of the specified fee.
The number of vacancies to be filled through the UPSC examination 2023 is a total of 1255 posts (1105 for CSE & 150 for IFS). Here is the Categorisation of Vacancy given below:
The final number of vacancies may undergo change after getting a firm number of vacancies from Cadre Controlling Authorities. Reservations will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes. Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the Economically Weaker Sections and Persons with Benchmark Disability in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.
According to a UPSC official, 11.52 lakh applicants applied to take the examinations in 2022, and 13090 of them successfully qualified for the UPSC CSE Mains 2022 i.e., stage II. The official added that the number of vacancies for the Civil Services Examination 2022 has increased from the initial 861 to 1,022. Compared to the past few years, the 2022 vacancy is one of the highest among all.

There are two types of services available through the UPSC 2023 exam i.e., All India Service and Central Civil Service.
Civil service is a such examination which is conducted by the UPSC every year. It is a three-stage examination namely,
A prelims examination is an objective type (multiple choice questions) paper whose marks are not counted for final merit. This stage includes two General studies papers i.e., GS Paper 1 (Subject specific) and GS Paper 2 (CSAT). CSAT is just a qualifying paper (minimum 33% score required). There is a negative marking i.e., one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to the question are deducted for every wrong answer for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
The candidate should carefully consider his or her choice of examination centre before submitting his or her application. The papers of any candidate who arrives at a location other than the one listed by the Commission in their Admission Certificate will not be examined, and their candidature may be cancelled.
Note: The Centres of the examination as mentioned above are liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission.
On May 28, 2023 (Sunday), across India, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the UPSC CSE 2023 Examination. UPSC Admit Card 2023 has been released on 29th August 2023 for the Mains exam.
For the purpose of appearing in the UPSC CSE 2023 Examination, the applicants must present a printout of their electronic admit card. In order to appear at each session of the exam, candidates must also bring their photo ID card, whose number is listed on the e-Admit Card.
Important Instructions to the Candidates
The entrance to the examination venue will close 10 minutes before the examination’s scheduled start time, which is 09.20 A.M. for the forenoon session and 02.20 P.M. for the afternoon session. After the entrance gate has closed, no candidate may enter the examination venue.
The last date for the UPSC CSE 2023 prelims online application is 21st February 2023 till 6:00 PM after that the link will be disabled. Candidates are strongly recommended to apply online well in time without waiting for the last date for submission of Online Applications.
UPSC will release the UPSC CSE 2023 prelims stage results probably in June/July 2023 and will release the qualified candidates for stage II (Main Examination) PDF list on their official website.
After conducting the entire stages of the CSE examination, UPSC releases a minimum cutoff mark for both the Prelims and Main examination which an aspirant must clear to be selected for the next stage of the process.
