- Developed by the Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory of DRDO, SPACE serves as a premier testing and evaluation hub for sonar systems for the Indian Navy.
- It comprises two components: a surface-floating platform and a submersible platform capable of descending up to 100 metres using winch systems.
- The submersible platform can be retrieved and docked with the surface platform after completing operations.
- SPACE facilitates the evaluation of complete sonar systems, enabling quick deployment and recovery of scientific packages like sensors and transducers.
- It supports surveying, sampling, and data collection of air, surface, mid-water, and reservoir floor parameters using modern scientific instrumentation.
